For 3 days in a row now we've had excellent weather and I've gotten to take a walk.  Today I got in a little over 5 miles.  It's been pretty nice.  I got a couple more pictures today.

Tonight I taught at the Athlone Church of Christ.  My Lesson was "Lessons from the Life of Elijah."  Here is the outline:

Elijah – Is only in 8 chapters 1 Kings 17 – 2 Kings 2
The Nation has divided and gone hard after idols
Period of Miracles – Establishing the prophetic office as God’s spokesmen

Some lessons we can learn for Elijah's life are.  In each instance I've included New Testament verses which talk about the same principle:

Be bold in the proclamation of the Word of God – 1 Kings 17:1

Elijah first appears and is introduced as a “Sojourner” – someone passing through – and he boldly approaches the King of Israel, Ahab and tells him “I am going to be controlling the weather!”

            2 Tim 4:2; Eph 6:20

Remember the Lord will provide – 1 Kings 17:2-16

Elijah goes to the brook Cherith and then to Zarephath at God’s direction where the Lord provides for him

            Matt 6:25-32; Phil 4:10-13

Expect God to Do Great Things – 1 Kings 18:17-40

Elijah’s challenge to the prophets of Baal

            Eph 3:20-21; 2 Cor 8:1-5

Don’t Let the Circumstances of Life Make You Lose Focus So That You Forget to Trust in God – 1 Kings 19

         He became afraid – 1 Kings 19:3

            He became self-absorbed – 1 Kings 19:4; 10; 14

            Luke 8:13

Remember Your Life Is in God’s Hands to Serve HIS Purpose, as HE Wills It – 2 Kings 1:9-15

            Matt 20:28; Rev 6:9-11

Serve God and He WILL Reward You – 2 Kings 2:1-12

            2 Tim 4:6-8
