Tonight I taught at the Athlone Church of Christ. My Lesson was "Lessons from the Life of Elijah." Here is the outline:
Elijah – Is only in 8 chapters 1
Kings 17 – 2 Kings 2
The Nation
has divided and gone hard after idols
Period of
Miracles – Establishing the prophetic office as God’s spokesmen
Some lessons we can learn for Elijah's life are. In each instance I've included New Testament verses which talk about the same principle:
Be bold in the proclamation
of the Word of God – 1 Kings 17:1
Elijah
first appears and is introduced as a “Sojourner” – someone passing through –
and he boldly approaches the King of Israel, Ahab and tells him “I am going to
be controlling the weather!”

Remember the Lord will
provide – 1 Kings 17:2-16
Elijah goes
to the brook Cherith and then to Zarephath at God’s direction where the Lord
provides for him
